Career Journey and Expertise
James Turner’s career journey is a testament to his dedication and expertise. With a bachelor’s degree in Business and Marketing and a Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration, James joined Interpath almost 30 years ago. Over the years, he has developed an in-depth understanding of the various market segments Interpath serves, including Clinical Pathology/Diagnostics, Universities, Medical Research, and the Food and Pharmaceutical industries.
Role at Interpath
For most of his career, James served as a Senior Account Manager, recently stepping into the role of Sales Manager Northern, overseeing the NSW and Queensland territories. This new role presents exciting challenges and opportunities, and James is eager to make a significant impact.
Passion for Sales
James enjoys the dynamic nature of sales, with each day bringing new challenges and opportunities. He values the autonomy and flexibility his role offers, and particularly appreciates the face-to-face interactions with customers, which he finds more fulfilling than administrative tasks.
Initial Surprises and Market Challenges
Reflecting on his early days at Interpath, James recalls being pleasantly surprised by the level of customer engagement. He discovered that customers highly value honest and reliable service. Today, one of the major challenges he faces is managing orders for imported key products with long lead times, while continuing to offer high-quality products at competitive prices.
Priorities for 2024
As Sales Manager, James’s priorities for 2024 include being an attentive listener to his team’s needs and gaining a comprehensive understanding of the customer base in NSW and QLD. His ultimate goal is to build a strong team of sales professionals who can exceed business goals in these regions.

James anticipates that automation and workflow solutions in laboratories will be significant industry trends in 2024. He believes that demonstrating value in these areas will be crucial. Additionally, he notes that customers are always looking to control and reduce costs while seeking reliable suppliers who offer quality products at competitive prices.
